INDIVIDUAL THERAPY.
Individual psychotherapy is what most people think of when they hear the word therapy. Therapy is a one-on-one conversation that follows your thoughts; the person you are talking with is a trained listener with specific knowledge about human development, mental illness, and communication. If we work together, you can expect our first few sessions to be an exploration of what is happening in your world, what is causing you distress, and what it is in your life that you’d like to change. As we move forward, therapy takes a more focused turn that varies from person to person. Sometimes, the work continues through supportive listening and illuminative questioning. Often we work on identifying strategies for better communication, improved mood, reduced anxiety, and more generous self-compassion. Contact me today for a free, brief phone consultation
Sessions are 45-50 minutes and my fee $180. Telehealth or in person.

While I don’t work with insurance companies, I encourage you to use the benefits to which you are entitled. This list of questions is intended to empower you to work with your insurance company for reimbursement.
Locate your insurance company’s phone number. This is available on their website or on the back of your insurance card. Use the following questions as a guide.
Can you explain the benefits that I have for individual psychotherapy?
Inform them that:
You will be paying the fee for services provided at the time of service
You will receive a form from your therapist containing the information necessary for the insurance company to reimburse you directly for whatever portion they cover for an out-of-network provider
What does the policy state regarding this method of reimbursement?
Do I need to meet a deductible and, if so, how much per calendar year? Have I met it yet?
What percentage of the fee does my policy pay per hour of individual psychotherapy?
Is there a limit on the number of hours of individual psychotherapy permitted by my policy.
Is there a limit per year for my benefits and, if so, what are those limits?
Please explain my options for seeing a provider not on their in-network list (e.g., an out-of-network provider).
Ask how much will they reimburse you if you see a provider who is out-of-network.
